Moved on...

Hi,

I found that I could not keep up with regularly posting on here so I let like a bit of a fraud in terms of being a 'blogger'. So instead I have to decided to record my adventures studying abroad in Texas on a new blog laurameetsworld13.blogspot.co.uk, feel free to check it out!

Peace out for the time being :) Thank you for paying any attention thus far!

You Can't Argue With Results

I'm currently sat watching the Simpsons and Bart and Homer are currently blowing things up as a way of 'fixing' them. Marge at first reprimands them but after the small explosion fixes the drawer she says 'well, you can't argue with results' and it got me thinking! I'm inspired to contemplate! Results are the products of activity of getting out there and doing things! Living, Loving, Laughing! It all has to be done for results to occur and when they do, there's no point in arguing with them and calling them wrong. At that moment in time they were the results that came from those actions so to change it, you have to first change your actions. So get out there! Change your actions and you'll have results you can't and won't argue with!

Don't Stress...Just Breathe

This Thursday, the 6th March, is results day in the UK for all of those who sat exams in January of this year. I am not going to lie, I am completely terrified. Last August I received my exam results for the 4 AS Levels I had sat in the May: General Studies B, History B, English Literatue B, German E and Religious Studies E. This meant that this year, I could continue with History and English to A2 Level but I had to pick up AS Level Psychology and postpone going to university for a year. This completely through me off course! I myself am a planner, I love lists and organisation, I know where I want to go and when I want to get there and all of a sudden life was taking control of me instead of me trying to control it. Due to the events of last year, I had to take three exams in January and I am now terrified for the results. Last year, I had done exams before and come out of the other side whereas I now, I haven't quite come out of the other side. I'm scared but I'm not going allow myself to worry or stress about it because what is done is done, no one and nothing can change the past so there is not point in dwelling on it, we must live in the present for the future. I have figured two things out through this life changing, 'nothing is the end of the world except for the apocalypse' and that if I have the dream, God will have the plan <3

Spring Time

(Crossing my fingers that I am not speaking too soon) but Spring Has Sprung! This winter has felt extraordinarily long. This may be due to the drama that has surrounded me personally namely with parents and school but it was one of those dark cold winters that lasted forever with no hope of light or snow to induce happiness in between. However, though there is slight cold and rain (I live in England though so no surprises there), there is also SUNSHINE! I love the sun :D it makes me so happy with it's bright light and it's bringing of day, I love it! I also love that the longer the sun is around the longer you can be outside experiencing the world. Don't get me wrong I love snuggling inside on a dark winter's night but there's nothing like the promise of being out from 10 in the morning till 11 at night in sunshine with friends. When I was in Morocco last year with Guides last summer this was 'our song' so I thought it appropriate to share...

Look Who's Back

I know, I know, I've been away for over a year but I have decided for Lent to 'give up' not writing my blog. I really do enjoy writing and I have missed it but life has been incredibly busy this past year, things have not gone my way so I've had to find a new way, which I have now so more time to blog!
I'm not a diary writer, more a notebook venter, but from now on I have decided to record the numerous memories that I intend to make...until next time!

Faith Is The Belief In Something That Is So Strong It Changes Your Life

  • Professor: You are a Christian, aren’t you, son?
  • Student: Yes, sir.
  • Professor: So, you believe in God?
  • Student: Absolutely, sir.
  • Professor: Is God good?
  • Student: Sure.
  • Professor: My brother died of cancer, even though he prayed to God to heal him. Most of us would attempt to help others who are ill. But God didn’t. How is God good, then? Hmm?
  • (Student was silent)
  • Professor: You can’t answer, can you? Let’s start again, young fella. Is God good?
  • Student: Yes.
  • Professor: Is Satan good?
  • Student: No.
  • Professor: Where does Satan come from?
  • Student: From.. God.
  • Professor: That’s right. Tell me son, is there evil in this world?
  • Student: Yes.
  • Professor: Evil is everywhere, isn’t it? And God did make everything. Correct?
  • Student: Yes.
  • Professor: So who created evil?
  • (Student didn’t answer)
  • Professor: Is there sickness? Immortality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things exist in the world, don’t they?
  • Student: Yes, sir.
  • Professor: So, who created them?
  • (Student had no answer)
  • Professor: Science says you have 5 senses you use to identify and observe the world around you. Tell me, son.. have you ever seen God?
  • Student: No, sir.
  • Professor: Tell us if you have ever heard your God.
  • Student: No, sir.
  • Professor: Have you ever felt your God, tasted your God, smelt your God? Have you ever had any sensory perception of God, for that matter?
  • Student: No, sir. I’m afraid I haven’t.
  • Professor: Yet you still believe in Him?
  • Student: Yes.
  • Professor: According to empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, Science says your God doesn’t exist. What do you say to that, son?
  • Student: Nothing. I only have my Faith.
  • Professor: Yes, Faith. And that is the problem Science has.
  • Student: Professor, is there such a thing as Heat?
  • Professor: Yes.
  • Student: And is there such a thing as Cold?
  • Professor: Yes.
  • Student: No, sir, there isn’t.
  • (The Lecture Theatre became very quiet with this turn of events)
  • Student: Sir, you can have lots of heat, even more heat, superheat, mega heat, white heat, a little heat or no heat. But we don’t have anything called cold. We can hit 458 Degrees below Zero which is no heat, but we can’t go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold. Cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of Heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.
  • (There was a pon-drop silence in the Lecture Theatre)
  • Student: What about darkness, Professor? Is there such a thing as darkness?
  • Professor: Yes. What is night if there isn’t darkness?
  • Student: You’re wrong again, sir. Darkness is the absence of something. You can have Low Light, Normal Light, Bright Light, Flashing Light… But if you have No Light constantly, you have nothing and it’s called Darkness, isn’t it? In reality, darkness isn’t. If it is, You would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn’t you?
  • Professor: So what is the point you are making, young man?
  • Student: Sir, my point is, your Philosophical Premise is flawed.
  • Professor: Flawed? Can you explain how?
  • Student: Sir, you are working on the Premise of Duality. You argue there is Life and then there is Death, a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something we can measure. Sir, Science can’t even explain a thought. It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it. Now tell me, Professor, do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?
  • Professor: If you are referring to the Natural Evolutionary Process, yes of course, I do.
  • Student: Have you ever observed Evolution with your own eyes, sir?
  • (The professor shook his head with a smile, beginning to realize where the argument was going)
  • Student: Since no one has ever observed the Process of Evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you not a Scientist but a Preacher?
  • (The class was in uproar)
  • Student: Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the Professor’s brain?
  • (The class broke out into laughter)
  • Student: Is there anyone here who has ever heard the Professor’s brain, felt it, touched or smelt it? .. No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established Rules of Empirical, Stable and Demonstrable Protocol, Science says that you have no brain, sir. With all due respect, sir, how do we then trust your lectures?
  • (The room was silent. The Professor stared at the student, his face unfathomable)
  • Professor: I guess you’ll have to take them on Faith, son.
  • Student: That is it, sir.. exactly! The link between man and God is Faith. That is all that keeps things alive and moving!
  • ----------------------------------------------------
  • That student was Albert Einstein.
  • Brilliant.
  • Beautifully done.
  • ----------------------------------------------------
  • wow, this was really albert einstein? had no idea he if believed in anything at all. when stories become about real people don't they hit so much harder?

What The Tombstone Read

I am my own worst enemy
It is I who loves my company.
I'd like to say that I am loved
By more than my true God above.
I can can however not say this,
I've no heart but a dark abyss.
I pray I find a person who,
Can fill me wholly and is true.
This may have happened in my past,
And I turned them away too fast.

If that is so, then I shall die,
With lonely tears left to cry.
The end is near I feel it call.
It engulfs me and makes me small.
Do not fear in peace I shall rest,
Start and end, one beat of your chest.

I'm in a poem writing mood so prepare yourself for more to come and by all means let me know what you think :)
